Hancock

by boomburger December 19, 2009

Just watched the movie Hancock starring Will Smith. I doubt it was intended to be as profound as I saw it out to be, but I came across some pretty interesting notions regardless. I’m sorry if you plan on watching it, but my post pretty much ruins one of the secrets of the film.

Will Smith and Charlize Theron are actually husband and wife. They are both immortal beings with super human powers. They were created in pairs and were “fated” to be matched up with one another. However, the closer in proximity they remained to one another, the more their powers began to diminish and were vulnerable to physical damage.

Charlize says “people are fated to be with one another, but make the choice whether or not they’re actually going to stay with each other.” They were both fully aware of the fact that if they stayed near one another, they would be susceptible to potential death. However, it was fate which made him inherently magnetized to her and his choice to be near her.

On the reverse, the further they stayed away from one another, the greater their powers grew. “Distance makes the heart grow fonder,” and in this case distance made their ability to fly and kick ass stronger.

Probably an over-analysis of an action movie, but tis how my mind works. I guess that what happens when you miss your superwoman.

All [Patience] Must Remain in the Waiting Room...

by boomburger November 21, 2009

I have the most amazing girlfriend in the world…hands down. Never would I have thought that I’d have such a hard time being perfect for her. What do you give to a girl, who already gives you everything and more? No gifts, or emails, or constant professions of “i love you,” can match how much she cares for me. My inadequacies as a guy come into play with the fact that as males, we sometimes neglect to go above and beyond the surface of things.

Hint for guys: We need to listen not just to what she tells us, but listen to what she doesn’t tell us.

It’s that extra step that proves how much you truly care about her. We can’t wait for her to ask you to do something specifically nice for her…at that point the novelty of the gesture is gone. It’s a difficult task, but truly worth the reward. So ladies, just know that our inability to match your romantic thoughtfulness, does not mean we’re not trying. Give us patience, and eventually, we’ll give you the world.
